MOVIEBOX PRO

◉ About the shop

A tape shop,
run by people who
still own decks.

MovieBox Pro started because the local thrift was throwing cassettes into the dumpster. Boxes of them. Sealed promos. Mint Maxells. A first-pressing Disintegration with the obi strip intact. We took them home, cleaned the heads on a Nakamichi CR-7A, and started listening.

Four years later there's a storefront, a couch, a listening deck, and around six hundred tapes graded the old-fashioned way — by someone who's heard them all the way through both sides. We don't deal in streaming-era reissues we haven't auditioned. If we don't trust the run, it doesn't go on the rack.

We don't run an online store yet. We don't want to. If you want something, write to us — the email gets read by the same people who graded the tape. We'll photograph it, quote shipping, and hold it for a week. That's the deal.

◉ What we believe

Hand-graded.

Every tape is auditioned start to finish on a calibrated deck. The grade on the J-card is the grade you get.

No algorithm.

We don't recommend by genre clusters. We recommend by what we actually like. You're welcome to disagree.

Tape outlives the cloud.

If you bought it from us, you own it. No DRM, no servers, no "sorry, the licensing changed."
